Moody Tongue

Hello everyone!
I apologize about the delay in my post this week, BUT it was my birthday weekend and I have been busy finding new breweries for you all to try!

This week's featured brewery is Moody Tongue, in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. When attempting to find this brewery, we initially drove past it at least two times before pulling over and looking at a street view on Google Maps. Turns out, we were right in front of it. The building this brewery is in just looks like any other warehouse in the area, no signage, no extra parking. Nothing setting it apart. The magic begins when you find the front door.
The door sets the tone for what you are actually about to walk into. The inside of the brewery is like a completely new world compared to the street that you just left. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you have been transported to a swanky lounge in the 1970's. The center of the room is filled with a large white marble bar with a bar to ceiling mirror behind it. There is a fireplace with 70's-centric seating around it, and another small lounge area near by that has a pop of color with blue leather chairs (which look like they are made of denim).

The staff here is amazing, they were very attentive and were very knowledgeable about the beers that they were serving.

They have a modest food menu, only serving oysters and a twelve layer chocolate cake (which you may have seen in my post earlier this week). We ordered the cake... I mean, it was my birthday!

Now, onto what you all have been waiting for! The. Beer.

Their beer is fantastic (they call themselves a culinary brewery for a reason), and they have all types of beer. We tried a few different ones, the Steeped Emperor's Lemon Saison, Sliced Nectarine IPA, Peeled Grapefruit Pilsner, Carmelized Chocolate Churro Baltic Porter, Barrel Aged Emperor's Lemon Saison, we even went on an adventure and tried the Shaved Black Truffle Pilsner. Ok, we may have tried most of the beers that they had, but how could you not?! My personal favorite was the lemon sour, disclaimer: if you don't like sours, this beer is not for you. If you ever just want to drink beer and feel extra fancy, this is the place I recommend. All of their beer is served in wine glasses, and the atmosphere exudes an air of happiness. I could not imagine being in a bad mood sitting in this bar.
Until next drink,
The Hop Chick
