Skeleton Key Brewing

Hello, fellow hop heads!
This week, I went to one of my favorite breweries in the western suburbs of Chicago. This brewery is fairly new, and pretty far from where I live, but I have been there more often than several breweries that are much closer to me. The service is alway friendly and the beer is always on point! What I love about this brewery is not only their passion for the beer that they brew but also for sharing their expertise with the community through their classes and their "Incubator." They offer a variety of classes from beer pairing to general beer knowledge all the way to advanced brewing techniques. The Incubator is designed for experienced homebrewers to give them access to more equipment and to give them experience in a brewery to help them open their own brewery or to find a job in a larger brewery that requires experience brewing on a large scale.

When you walk into this brewery, you see a brightly lit room that is full of tables. This is their classroom but it is open for seating when there is not a class in session. The tap room is just through a small hallway and is open to the brewery proper.

The brewery is filled with amazing artwork and has a giant mural of doors and skulls on one of the walls in the tap room. The people that you meet at this brewery are equally as amazing. During this visit, I was chatting with the man at the bar next to me about beer (my favorite thing to talk about) and he said to me, "you should make a blog about this!" I told him that I do! I hope that he is reading this right now, HI!

As for the beer... Skeleton Key always has its mainstays that are delicious, but they also have one experimental beer on tap at all times. This time they had Migratory, a coconut golden ale which started with a smooth coconut taste and finished crisp and clean. Other noteworthy beers here are Friends Don't Lie, an APA and Space Plans C, an IPA. (You know I love my hops!) While doing a little bit of research, I saw that they are coming out with Space Plans D soon, and I cannot WAIT to try it!

The only thing I would change about this place is how far it is from me because I want so badly to be a part of their Skull Muggery Club!

Until next drink!
